A contemporary Cheshire farmstead
A landscape-led neighbourhood inspired by local building traditions
The vision for Moor Lane is to create a contemporary interpretation of a Cheshire farmstead: clusters of homes arranged around shared yards, orchards and gardens in a green, semi-rural setting. The design draws on the character of brick farmhouses, long barns and courtyard layouts found across the Cheshire Plain, while adapting those ideas for modern living.
The main design principles are straightforward:
-
existing field boundaries and hedgerows used to help shape streets, open spaces and green corridors;
-
a walkable layout with clear front doors, active frontages and well-overlooked public areas; and
-
purposeful design ensuring that all of the homes maintain a low profile in relation to the landscape
